Summer Season with a New ride...

Well my first year of law school is behind me. For the past month I have done little to no riding and lost all the fitness that I had gained over the winter and spring race season. But, my first year of law school is behind me.

I guess this is one of those get your priorities straight kinda moments but if I said I wasn’t bummed to have lost the best cycling fitness Iv ever had and have to start over from scratch I would be lying. Now Im trying to get a plan in place to be back in shape for the NC championships and other races in July. Ill be racing the road mainly through the rest of the year and I should have some sort of schedule put together in the next week or so.

The biggest news in cycling over the past few months has been the addition of a new bike to the stable. As you read before the break I demoed a Niner Air 9 Carbon and well lets just say I was convinced that a 29er was the way to go. So I set out looking for the right bike. The bike shop I demoed the bike from recommended the scandium Air 9 which is still a very lightweight frame but at a fraction of the price. I was convinced that 29ers were right on a Niner so why go elsewhere? So I almost bought a frame online to build up myself but I knew I couldn’t really afford to build it up the way I wanted new. So I got lucky and saw a nice white Niner posted on MTBR.com by a guy in Asheville and I knew it was the one.

I got what I thought was a pretty sweet deal which allowed me to make it my own changing out the cockpit to the Ritchey WCS stuff. I havnt got it out on a real trail yet but it feels awesome and looks even better. Iv been wanting a new mountain bike for a while now and things just lined up to make it possible and I couldn’t be happier with it.

There will be ride reports to come soon. But I had to at least have the initial unveiling. Oh, and I suppose it goes without saying there may be some mountain bike races worked into the season. I know im eating my words...but what was I thinking. A year without mountain biking...smh
