Big Race Weekend

So this weekend is the Burn 24 hour Challenge Mountain Bike Endurance Race. This race is not only the Premier cycling event in the Wilkes County and at the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir Trail System (although the 6 hours of warrior creek is growing fast) but maybe the biggest endurance race in the southeast. The race is put on by the Brushy Mountain Cycling club and racers will do as many 7 mile laps around the Dark Mountain trail system. The race will run from around lunch time Saturday until lunch time Sunday. The race is caped at 400 riders and is sold out.

This is a great event with a huge following including Team Topeak-Ergon and many other shop club teams. Team Topeak-Ergon even put on a 24 hour racing seminar tonight at Wilkes's newest actual bike shop Brushy Mountain Cycles.

The race is gonna be wet and sloppy with rain called for tomorrow and already saturated trails as I described after my ride Tuesday. However it should still be a fun and interesting race.
Im was not able to race it this year (crossing my fingers for next year) but im gonna try my best to make it up to the lake tomorrow and check it out.

Here is the site if you want to check it out...
