I watched several people come across the finish line and tag out with there partners with announcers saying that most people were coming across in the low to mid fifty minute mark. One guy came across running with his bike on his shoulder cyclocross style tag his partner and collapsed on the ground. I assume his bike had broken on the trail and he had run it back. I couldnt get my camera out in time to capture this kodak moment.
The atmosphere was great with tons of people on hand that I recognozed from 6 Hours of Warrior Creek and some teams like Boone Bike and Touring and Team Topeak Ergon. I heard that Team Topeak Ergon won the Coed Team Class and Boone Bike won the Male Team Class.
We then walked up onto the trail a bit and watched the guys fly by. It was mandatory for you to have lights on while on the trail from 8PM til 8AM which started right as we left it was pretty neat to see all those lights on the trail.
Very fun just to hang out and watch the racers though. The results showed some very impressive lap times of 33 or 35 minutes and 39 laps for the team winner and 27 for the solo. I average very high 40 minute or low 50 minute times so those laps are very impressive to me. The weather stayed clear for the race from 12PM Saturday to 12Pm Sunday but conditions were already sloppy.
As always a great race and look forward to next year whether it is an observer again or a racer Ill be sure to be there.
Here is a link to the results if your interested..
