So just to catch up a little Ill try to sum up a few of my recent outings. First the day before my LSAT which would have been June 6th I went on a small hike up on the parkway for a hike with my woman. Nothing serious here but a stress reliever non the less.
The day did turn somewhat interesting when we were looking over the mountains and an officer hollered at us and said "is this yalls jeep" pointing to a blue wrangler in the parking lot. I answered no and a minute later the officer asked another couple on the trail and they said they were the owners. He then informed then they needed to move it in a hurry because they were quote "gonna land a helicopter on it". So we of course hung around to see what was going on.
The helicopter from Wake Forest landed and loaded up . I found out the next day from one of my firefighting buddies that there had been a big wreck and that was the closest place they could land.
While we were there more sightseeing than hiking we spotted some good trails and decided to come back the next Sunday for some more serious hiking.
So last Sunday June 13th we did just that. We hiked up from Doughten Park to a bluff overlook. The loop we decided to take was only about 3 miles. My girlfriend has only began hiking with me and so im trying to ease her into it slowly. However we did gain a pretty substantial amount of elavation and came out to maybe one of the prettiest spots Iv even seen on the parkway.
The pictures I take cant do it justice but we sat there for awhile just looking. We continued on up the trail and spotted a few possible future routes we would like to take and just enjoyed the day.
So thats what been going on in the world of Hiking western North Carolina.
Iv been riding a pretty good amount the last two weeks but Ill save my Mountain Biking stories for tomorrow.
